Rules
Registration
-
Double registration in two consecutive levels is allowed in gold and above. Eligibility for an event based on YCN point accumulation will still apply for those double registering.
-
Competitors may only span two levels of events across registration. E.g., a competitor may dance Gold Latin and Silver Standard, but not Gold Latin, Silver Standard, and Prechamp Rhythm.
Eligibility
-
Newcomer: Dancers may compete in the newcomer level if they began competing after January 1st, 2024.
-
Bronze: Dancers may compete in the Bronze level only if they began competing after January 1st, 2023.
-
Competitors may not dance in an event in which they have accumulated 7 YCN points. This supersedes any time based eligibility.
-
If a partnership is composed of two dancers of differing levels, the partnership must register for events at the higher level of the two.
-
Syllabus events are open to all dancers competing at newcomer to gold levels.
-
A dancer may register down one level if they are dancing the opposite of their usual role. E.g., a Gold Standard follower may lead Silver Standard.
Choreography
-
Syllabus competitors must abide by the ISTD Syllabi for International Latin and Standard events, and by the NDCA Syllabi for American Smooth and Rhythm events.
-
Open choreography is permitted in the Pre-Champ and Champ events only.
Costumes
-
Costumes are permitted in all levels except Newcomer.
-
All heels must have heel taps or suede coverings to protect the dance floor.
